Forever and Always

I’m getting married this week. Feelings are all over the place but mostly I’m filled with excitement. I cannot wait to get married to this incredible woman. I feel blessed beyond measure. I wanted to share our story here. Maybe it will impact someone who reads it.
Our Story
DATING
It all began at Mission City Church. Benny was the Video Producer, and Megan worked at the church café. Benny frequented the café for his signature drink, The Benny (a hot mocha latte made with half whole milk and half 1/2 and 1/2). Through these café visits, they got to know each other and discovered many shared interests: both were artists, enjoyed video games, reminisced over classic cartoons and anime, and had a passion for Marvel movies.
When Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was released, they were both really excited. They loved the first movie in the series for its amazing art style and couldnt wait to see the new one. However, Megan couldnt join Benny and their friends on opening night. After seeing the movie, Benny was so blown away that he texted Megan immediately: MEGAN!! Ive decided. Whenever you have a chance to see Spider-Man, Im coming. Or vice versa. We need to go see it together. She responded, Sure! Im so excited!
Was Benny asking her out on a date? Or was he just being the Marvel nerd that he is? Maybe both. One thing Benny knew was that he only wanted to see the movie with Megan. After a couple of weeks of trying to align their schedules, and despite Benny already being booked for two more showings, they finally had their first date.
They started with coffee and then saw Spider-Man together. Afterward, Benny walked Megan to her car, asked for a second date, and she said Yes. The rest is history.
ENGAGED
They dated for exactly a year before getting engaged. During their time dating, a few notable things stood out:
God at the Center
They attended church together and served in their respective roles: Megan in the café and Benny on the production team. Every week, as part of their date night, they read a devotional together called Together with Christ by Chelsea Damon. Every time they sat down for a meal, they prayed together, keeping God at the center of their relationship.
Honest Communication
From the beginning, Benny and Megan were clear about their relationship expectations. Their second date focused heavily on setting these expectations. They addressed concerns quickly and openly, not letting anything fester. Before officially becoming boyfriend and girlfriend, they took the time to define what being in a relationship entailed, what it meant to be boyfriend and girlfriend, and what saying I love you meant. This built trust and meaning from the start.
Priorities
From these set expectations, everything else fell into place. They sought each others well-being above their own, making an effort for the relationship because of their shared goal: marriage. They got to know each others families, were open to each others passions, and supported each other through their faults, offering prayer and encouragement.
*This might be the biggest thing for us.
I seek to pursue and serve Megan more because she pursues and serves me.
I seek to pursue and serve Benny more because he pursues and serves me.*
